Romulan Ale, the popular galactic libation, was declared illegal in early 2280 by the United Federation of Planets. Romulan Ale, from its first appearance in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, has become one of Star Trek's legendary, highly potent, and non synthetic beverages served at important functions or secret gatherings.

As James T. Kirk said to Bones in Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan in 2285, "Romulan Ale? Why Bones, you know this is illegal."

With a proof of 80 and 40% alcohol by volume, it is questionable that bridge officers should be on duty after a small drink of this, unless they're Vulcan of course.

Cheers and go binge watch some Star Trek!
