The B-52 shooter is something I've been working on for a while, until last night when I achieved this layered shooter. It is a difficult and tricky shooter to make.
The B-52 came on the scene in the late 70's at the Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta, Canada. The bartender there, Peter Fich created the layered drink after his favorite band, the B-52s. So no matter what one might think, the B-52 shooter isn't named after the B-52 Stratofortress.
Formed in 1976, the B-52s weren't named after the bomber, but named after the B-52s signature haircut that resembled a beehive, a B-52 nose cone. Onto the recipe...
B-52 recipe
Ingredientes
1/2 oz Kahlua
1/2 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1/2 oz Grand Marnier
shot measurer with lip
tall shot glass
Method
Very carefully measure each liqueur from the top to down
Pour very slowly and carefully, each individual liqueur into the tall shot glass
Pour the last liqueur very, very slowly from the shot measurer
Tips
If you've done this correctly, you'll see a beautifully layered drink, with a rich brown on the bottom, a cream color in the middle, and a pale orange on top. If this drink ends up looking like chocolate milk, still drink it and let not your heart be troubled. With practice you will learn to make this difficult shooter. I promise. Cheers!
