The Midori Sour, a melon tasting classic

Yesterday I decided to go way bay to my college years and make a Midori Sour. It was just as I remembered it and brought back some great memories too. I'll keep those to myself.

The Midori Sour was first made in the late 70's at Studio 54, a perfect bright and showy cocktail for the notorious nightclub. In the 80's and 90's it lost its popularity, until recently it gained a new life. So when a patron at a bar wants a melon flavored or bright green drink, the bartender is on call with a Midori Sour.

I don't blame them. They are definitely tasty cocktails. Here's the recipe...

Midori Sour

Ingredients

1 oz Midori

1 oz vodka

1/2 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed

1/2 oz lime juice, freshly squeezed

Club soda to top

Garnish with lemon wheel

Method

Fill a Collins glass with ice.

Add the Midori, vodka, lemon juice and lime juice to the ice filled Collins glass.

Stir to combine.

Then top with a glass of club soda.

Garnish with a lemon wheel.

Tips

I don't have Collins glasses, so I used highball glasses and put a little less club soda.

I also didn't have fresh limes or lemons, so I used the bottled kind. I know, I know, not quite the same, but it tasted the same anyway.

And obviously, no garnish with whe lack of fruit.

Overall,  a great citrusy, melon drink with not too much liquor. Enjoy this one. Cheers!
